I was made for this!

In his book When Life’s Not Working,  Bob Merritt says that God has given each of us the ability and desire to do things well.  He quotes Max Lucado: “You find your sweet spot at the intersection of success and satisfaction.”

Most likely, our called teaching or pastoral position filled that sweet spot in our professional lives.  What might the loss of that position signify in regard to future ministry opportunities?

Perhaps, as we reflect on our God-given talents and abilities, God will validate our self-assessment by providing a new opportunity in our previously-chosen field.  Or, are we open to the possibility that  God wants to bring latent talents to the forefront and take us in an entirely different direction?  As Bob Merritt explains: “It’s often through hardship that God gives you the space to reflect and figure out who you are and what he wants you to do.”
