Our daily bread

By Dave Henning / May 14, 2012

In Chapter 6 of A Gentle Thunder, Max Lucado shares his thoughts on John 6:35- “I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”

While there are seasonal fruits and vegetables or special drinks for specific holidays, Max comments that: “Bread is eaten daily. . . . He (Jesus) should be brought to your table every day.  We let him nourish our hearts, not just in certain months or on special events, but daily.”

Transitional time are periods of great uncertainty.  A part of us remains in our downsized past.  We continue to hang on day after day in the present, taking one step at a time toward an undefined future.

We can’t do it alone- and we are not alone.  Jesus is with us every step of the way.  Are we intentionally spending time with Jesus every day, nourishing our hearts with God’s Word?
