Life-long mind renewal

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.  The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”  ( 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5)

Ron Carpenter Jr. (The Necessity of an Enemy)states that even after we come to faith through the power of the Holy Spirit, renewing our minds (Romans 12:2) is a life-long process.  We need to get our thinking full of the knowledge of God.

This is of critical importance when we’re under the stress of life-altering adversity such as a ministry downsizing or position loss.  We may wonder why it happened to us or where God was when it happened.  A firm foundation of faith is necessary to combat such thoughts.  As Pastor Ron remarks: “Wherever your life is going, get there ‘head’ first.”
