“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me.”- Psalm 38:8a
In Chapter 2 (“You Are Not an Accident”) of The Purpose Driven Life, Pastor Rick Warren begins by unequivocally affirming that our birth was planned by God, conceived in His mind long before our own physical birth. God has planned every aspect of our life for His purpose. God created us in order to express His love. Nothing is arbitrary! Conversely, Pastor Warren notes that if God did not exist, we’d all be “accidents”. However, as Albert Einstein once succinctly stated, “God does not play dice.”
Many of us learned these truths about God’s loving purpose and plan for our lives as young children. Even though our circumstances change, these truths are eternal. When adversity hits and Satan’s insidious presence threatens to infiltrate our thoughts and words, we must be intentional in recalling God’s faithfulness. Rick underscores this when he states:
“But there is a God who made you for a reason, and your life has profound meaning! We discover that meaning and purpose only when we make God the reference point of our lives.”
