A spiritual arteriogram- Part 2

By Dave Henning / June 13, 2013

In today’s blog, Pastor Kyle Idleman (Gods at War) continues his spiritual arteriogram with Questions 3-4.

3.  Where do you make financial sacrifices?  As the Bible says in Matthew 6: 21, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Pastor Idleman notes that “where your money goes shows what god is winning your heart.”  A good exercise for determining where your money goes, he suggests, is to look at your bank and credit card statements, pretending that you are examining the habits of a perfect stranger to find out what’s most important to that person.

4.  What worries you?  This question is a personal “favorite”- it really hits uncomfortably close to home!  When we worry about something, we care about it so deeply that it has a stranglehold on our hearts.  It is revealed when our mind is in free-form mode.  Pastor Idleman observes: “Whatever it is that wakes you- or for that matter keeps you up- has the potential to become an idol.”

Today’s question: What worries you most about your transitional situation?  What have you found most effective in releasing your burdens to the Lord?

Tomorrow’s blog: The conclusion of the spiritual arteriogram
