In God We Trust- Part 2

By Dave Henning / June 28, 2013

In today’s blog, Pastor Kyle Idleman (Gods at War) discusses questions 2-4 of his Idolatry ID.

2.  How much anxiety do finances add to your life?  The author notes that most of us have financial worries, ranging from unemployment to finding “there’s too much month at the end of the money.”  Pastor Idleman asks us to consider where money ranks on our list of things causing us great stress.  He encourages us to continually bring the burden of our financial situation before the Lord as well as to give thanks and be content in the midst of our challenges.

3.  To what extent are your dreams and goals driven by money?  Pastor Idleman notes that our personal dreams tell us a great deal about who we are and what makes us tick.  If someone would ask  “If you had one wish . . . ?”, what would our greatest dream reveal about our motivations?

4.  What is your attitude toward giving?  Pastor Idleman asks us to think about those occasions when we’re asked for a financial donation.  Are we annoyed or do we wind up giving the least amount we think is acceptable?

Today’s question: Whatever your income level before your downsizing or position loss, does Pastor Idleman’s Idolatry ID help you to place your financial worries in perspective?  Please share.
