Triumphing over our emotions- Part 2

By Dave Henning / October 30, 2013

In today’s post, Dr. Stanley presents the third and fourth components for bringing our beliefs in line with what God says about us.

3.  Exercise the powerful privilege of prayer.  Dr. Stanley believes prayer is an absolutely essential part of our lives because “prayer is an intimate conversation with God of all that exists, and your relationship with Him determines the impact of your life and the influence you have with those around you.  Time alone with Him . . . is crucial if we desire true emotional healing.”

It is when we are on our knees, the author observes, that we stand tallest and strongest.

4.  Expect God’s healing to begin immediately.  Even though we may not be aware of what the Holy Spirit is accomplishing, Dr. Stanley encourages us to endure courageously in the knowledge that the Holy Spirit already is at work in our hearts.  As God transforms our thinking, our pain actually may intensify as everything in us fights against what we’re learning.  Yet our efforts are not in vain.  Our struggle is worthwhile.  God will bless us.  Freedom is within reach.

Today’s question: What role has prayer played in your healing, transformational journey toward revitalization and revisioning of your vocation?  Please share.
