Let go of your anger

By Dave Henning / April 27, 2015

At the end of Chapter 9 of How Can I Possibly Forgive?, Sara Horn discusses Five Ways to Let Go of Your Anger Toward God Right Now.

1.  Realize you have a choice.  We make the choice to be angry with God.  Rather than choosing a form of bitterness over God’s love, we must be intentional in choosing to give our pain to God.

2.  Look for truth in the situation.  Sara notes that when we are angry with God, usually it’s because there’s a lie we are accepting as truth.  When we hold such falsehoods up to our standard, the Bible, inaccuracy is exposed.  Scripture reminds us of who God really is.

3.  Ask questions.  Sara encourages us to ask God the hard questions.  Then we form those hard questions into prayers, understanding that God wants to listen to our cries.  We should ask God for deeper understanding as well.

4.  Reinforce your trust.  There are times in our life where God has shown us He is trustworthy.  We need to think about those times.  God never changes.  He is the same God who provided for us in the past, and He will continue to provide for us now.

5.  Pray.  Through prayer we keep the lines of communication open to God.  It’s hard to stay mad at God when we’re on speaking terms.  Prayer builds faith and trust.  We must believe God is leading us, providing for us, and understanding our needs.

Today’s question: Which of these five ways resonate most with you?  Please share.
