How to rest in the safety of our God’s arms

“As adults, we often accept the language of being a daughter or a son of God and yet still struggle — nearly daily and sometimes hourly — with the internal strife of not knowing how to rest in the safety of our God’s arms.”- Sara Hagerty

Sara Hagerty concludes Chapter 2 of Unseen as she states the greater truth that every one of us is fractured.  Even as we rest in our God’s arms, parts of us remain broken.  Hence, we still need our Father’s tender hand to gently put us back together.  In addition, Sara observes, regardless of age, newly vulnerable parts of us arise.  These parts, too, need assurance of this wild love of God.

However, the author stresses, often we find more comfort in living fractured.  In contrast, A. W. Tozer (The Rest of the Righteous, 1955) describes God’s relentless faithfulness:

“Pseudo-faith always arranges a way out to serve in case God fails it.  Real faith knows only one way and gladly allows itself to be stripped of any second way or makeshift substitutes.  For true faith, it is either God or total collapse.  And not since Adam stood upon the earth has God failed a single man or woman who trusted him.”

In conclusion, Ms. Hagerty states that our human eyes easily betray the truth of the story we’ve been living.  Even though the world leads us one way, we tune our ears to Jesus.  For Jesus tells you who He sees, who you truly are.  Jesus sees you even when no one else bothers to look at you.  And even when no one’s listening, Jesus talks to you in the dark.

Today’s question: What hymns and Bible verses lead you to rest in the safety of our God’s arms.  Please share.
