A full and holistic Christian life

By Dave Henning / November 2, 2020

“Regardless of where you are in your spiritual life, the Holy Spirit is applicable to you because the Spirit is necessary to experience a full and holistic Christian life.  God the Spirit enables and empowers us to do exactly what God has invited us to do and become who God created us to be. . . .  You won’t accept the invitation to go on the sacred chase apart from him.”- Heath Adamson

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth.  He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is to come.”- John 16:13 (NIV)

In Chapter 8 (“The Dove Remains”) of The Sacred Chase, Heath Adamson observes that when John the Baptist baptized Jesus, His heavenly Father addressed Him.  Furthermore, what the Father spoke over Jesus was 100 percent not related to Jesus’ vocation, education, childhood, or social status.  Rather, the Father spoke to Jesus’ identity.  Mr. Adamson applies this to us:

“Our very souls are sustained by God’s voice. . . .  God will always have something to say to you through Scripture, and he will never, ever contradict what is already written in the sixty-six books we call the Bible. . . .  It is crucial to realize we live and find our spiritual sustenance in what God is saying right here and now.  The Spirit of God whispers and thunders to us through God’s Word.  The Spirit speaks to our heart and our conscience and guides us into all truth (John 16:13).  There is an inseparable link between God’s Word and the Spirit.”

In conclusion, Heath underscores, it’s easy for us to miss much of who God is.  Therefore, we must to more than simply profess to walk with Jesus and give thanks to God for His death on the cross.  As a  result, we also must surrender to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  Because, the Holy Spirit desires to know each of us.
