A daily grind – just going through?

By Dave Henning / October 2, 2021

“We may think that we are just going through a daily grind, but we are not.  That so-called daily grind is leading us to a place and position where God can bless us and use us in ways that we would never imagine.”- Dr. Charles F. Stanley

“Make me know your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths.  Lead me in your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation.”- Psalm 25:4-5 (NKJV)

Dr. Charles Stanley concludes Chapter 17 of Can You Still Trust God? with four ways to discover God’s promise.  His will and purpose for our lives.

1.  God reveals His will to us through His Word.  As we pray and study Scripture, the Holy Spirit guides us to passages that demonstrate actions God wants us to take or something we need to learn.  Thus, the Bible = God’s primary form of communication with us.  Because of that, it’s impossible to live the Christian life apart from Scripture.

2.  God reveals His will and promises to us through the circumstances of life.  Allowing God to move close to us enables Him to heal our hearts and shattered dreams as He leads us to a spacious place of blessing.  Above all, every challenge we face, turn we take, and disappointment that works its way into our live provides an opportunity for God to demonstrate His faithfulness to us.

3.  God reveals His will to us through the godly counsel of others.  The counsel of a godly friend, pastor, or counselor must always align with the Word of God.  However, if you’re unsure about a matter, stop and wait for God to lead you to the next step.  Patiently remains committed to receiving the best God has to offer for your life.

4.  God reveals His will to us through our conscience.  Ask God to make His will plain to you, and He will do it.  Because He’s placed within your life a conscience, an awareness of His presence.  In addition, He trains our conscience with principles written in His Word.
