Visitation rights on weekends?

By Dave Henning / November 2, 2022

“God wants a relationship with you.  He’s not seeking visitation rights on weekends.  He wants full custody.  Yet if you choose to view Him only through a religious lens and not a relational lens, you’ll miss out on the meaning He can bring to your life. . . .  You must have faith that God is there in order to relate to Him personally.”- Dr. Tony Evans

“Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”- Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Dr. Tony Evans concludes Chapter 3 of Kingdom Heroes as he counsels that the thing you fear most need not alarm you.  Because when the time comes for you to go through it, you can count on God’s presence.  For He will hold your hand and guide you where you need to go.  And even though you fail to see the path, rest assured that God knows the way.

Furthermore, Dr. Evans exhorts:

“Life isn’t always easy.  In fact, rarely is it easy.  Unleashing your inner hero won’t take place simply because you decide to do so.  It will take effort, strength, and even pushing through life’s pains., But remember, . . having someone alongside you makes the hills a little easier to climb.  It provides each person with a positive distraction from the pain so they can move forward in peace with perseverance.  Thus, when you include, engage, and relate to God on a personal level regarding every aspect of your life, He becomes that walking partner to propel you forward.”

Hence, walking with God enables you to get where you’re going with greater ease.  And you’ll walk at a faster speed than ever before.  In addition, as you follow God’s direction, He leads you into the fulfillment of your destiny.

So, for those of us who know God through His Son, Jesus Christ, He gives each of us a personal navigation system to guide us.  A supernatural GPS placed within you that helps steer you in the right direction God’s planned for you.

Today’s question: What most helps you cede full custody of your life to God, rather than visitation rights on weekends?  Please share.
