Whispering voice of a loving God

By Dave Henning / November 4, 2022

“I feel for those Christians who spend their lives without ever hearing the voice of God.  I feel for those who have never experienced God speaking to their thoughts and bringing ideas to their minds or creating circumstances to guide them. . . .  To go through life without the whispering voice of a loving God in your ear is aimless at best and disastrous at worst.”- Dr. Tony Evans

“By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household.  Bu this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.”- Hebrews 11:7 (ESV)

Dr. Tony Evans concludes Chapter 4 of Kingdom Heroes as he counsels that Noah’s story serves as a reminder to us.  A reminder that when God asks us to do something, we need to do it.  All of it.  Because, Dr. Evans stresses, without obedience faith remains, at best, a concept.  Hence, Noah exercised faith when he chopped down the first gopher wood tree.  And he continued his faith in action each and every day for the next 120 years.

In addition, Noah proclaimed his faith.  He believed in God’s power and preached that power to others.  Therefore, everyone knew where Noah stood.  For that’s how he rolled.

Furthermore, as Dr. Evans explains:

“Noah walked so closely with God that his actions spoke as loudly as his words. . . .  His entire lifestyle preached a message of righteousness — rightly following God and aligning under His rule.  Even though he didn’t know . . . how the boat would find its way to water, Noah did what he could where he was with what he had, because that’s what God told him to do.

God isn’t a show you kind of God.  He’s a faithful God who requires each of us to walk in faith out of a heart that trusts in Him to keep His word.”

Today’s question: When do you hear the whispering voice of a loving God?  Please share.
