Shaky in your faith right now?

“You may be shaky in your faith right now or timid in times of confusion and doubt.  God can raise you up to complete great works for Him. . . .  [Moses’] story gives all of us an example of what it means to be redeemed from the frailties of our flesh and used by the power of God working in us.”- Dr. Tony Evans

“By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.  He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt.”- Hebrews 11:24-26 (ESV)

In Chapter 9 (Moses, a Man of Conviction”) of Kingdom Heroes, Dr. Tony Evans stresses that we only discover what God can do when we trust Him to do it.  So, to live by faith means you choose God’s plan over the culture’s plan.  Then you watch Him work His plan out for your good and others’ benefit.

Hence, when Moses’ mother raised him in Pharaoh’s palace, she used her proximity to him to shape his future worldview.  As a result, a grown-up Moses refused to allow people to call him the son of Pharaoh’s daughter any longer.  Instead, he identified with his own people – a choice that came at great personal cost.  Thus, Moses understood what really mattered – and picked a side.

In conclusion, as we read in Hebrews 11:26, Moses considered the reproach of Christ greater than any treasures he attained in Egypt.  Because he looked to the reward.  Dr. Evans explains:

“The reward of God is greater than the treasures of man.  But unless you believe that you won’t make the wise decision like Moses did.  You’ll wind up hanging out with the world rather than giving yourself fully to God.  Moses made up his mind as a result of his faith in both a reward to experience in his lifetime and an eternal one.”
