A sense of expectancy

“If you don’t live with a sense of expectancy, wondering what good thing God is up to in and around you, that’s a sign that you need healing, truth, and renewed perspective.”- Maria Erickson

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”- Psalm 23:6 (ESV)

In Chapter 6 (“God Offers Life: Take Him at His Word”) of Closer Than Your Next Breath, Susie Larson paraphrases a conversation she had with her prayer warrior friend Maria.  Maria stressed to Susie that Satan always plays by patterns.  Therefore, you find a pattern of theft in every human story.  Because, in a predictable way, Satan plants lies and paves inroads.  That allows him to repeatedly steal from unsuspecting souls.

Consequently, as a liar and a thief, Satan often gets away with stealing from God’s children what they rightfully possess.  But even though Satan embezzles what he can, as children of God we own a say in this matter!

As a result, Louis Giglio exhorts:

“God wants you to live in the fullest potential that He has for your life.  It’s time you get serious about victory how that God has given you the opportunity to ask, How is the opposition coming against me?  What is the Enemy doing to me?  What adjustments can be made?”

Thus, Susie counsels, take back the things Satan’s stolen.  Come into a new awareness of God’s nature and find your new normal.  A life that includes abundance, goodness, mercy, and joyful expectancy.

Certainly, all of us go through difficult times.  However, it’s possible to press on with our spiritual identity intact.  And God’s promises at our fingertips.  Theft pulls us out of alignment, but God’s truth sets us free.

In conclusion, Susie advises, take inventory of your story and the lies you picked up when life let you down.  That enables you to shore up your future life to prevent enemy theft.

Today’s question: What Scripture verses, hymns, or Christian songs/books help you live with a sense of expectancy?  Please share.
