Tangible evidence of God working?

“Sometimes I think I hold on to the burden of unfairness because I don’t see tangible evidence of God doing anything.  But this is what I’m reminding myself of: we don’t serve a do-nothing God.  Even in the silence, the unknown, and the places where it looks like evil is winning, He is working.”- Lysa TerKeurst

“See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.  But encourage one another daily as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”- Hebrews 3:12-13 (NIV)

Lysa TerKeurst concludes Chapter 7 of I Want to Trust You, but I Don’t as she reminds us of what happens when people sin against us.  They unleash into their lives the consequences of that sin — it’s a package deal.  Therefore, the best thing for us to do involves trusting God with their consequences.  Above all, we must take extreme care not to get lured into sinful choices trying to right the wrong.

Certainly, God offers comfort and instruction in His Word — if only we choose to open it up.  In addition, we must be willing to open our heart and mind as we receive it.

Therefore, Lysa resolves:

“I’m going to set aside what, in my flesh, I think they deserve and remember we are called to pray for our enemies so God can lead them to repentance.  And that doesn’t mean we pray for them to suffer.  After all, we always want God’s mercy to be in play, because we need it too.  We need to remember that . . . we have sinned and will again sin against others.  Sin blinds us all.”

In conclusion, Lysa exhorts, God’s with us and leads us on our journey.  But we’ll always find how and where He leads a bit of a mystery.  However, there’s no mystery in this: we will see God’s glory.  On this side of eternity, or on the other side.  Most significantly, God’s glory will not be mocked.

Today’s question: What do you when you fail to see tangible evidence of God working? Please share.
