The greatest moment of your life

“This is the day the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”- Psalm 118:24

“For his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”- Lamentations 3:22-23

In Chapter 4 of God is Closer Than You Think, John Ortberg emphatically asserts that now is the greatest moment of your life, God’s irreplaceable gift to you.  While this particular moment in time may be quite difficult, it’s the only moment you’ve got.  This moment is where God is, and if we’re going to be with God at all, we must be with Him now– in this moment.  We lose our lives if we live in the irretrievable past or look toward an ambiguous future.

Jean-Paul Caussade writes in The Sacrament of the Present Moment that each moment of our lives can be a vehicle for God’s love and power:

“The present moment holds infinite riches beyond your wildest dreams, but you will only enjoy them to the extent of your faith and love. . . .  To discover God in the smallest and most ordinary things, as well as the greatest, is to possess a rare and sublime faith.”
