When the door opens

“There is always a moment when the door opens- a genesis moment when God reveals Himself.”- Mark Batterson

In Chapter 4 (“The Door to the Future”) of Chase the Lion, Mark Batterson emphatically states every dream journey contains genesis moments.  Such moments radically change the plot line of our life.  Furthermore, once the door of the future opens for us, the door to our past slams shut.  There’s no turning back.

Sadly, Pastor Batterson observes, many people die spiritually long before their physical heart stops beating,  As a result, Mark explains:

“We die when our hearts stop skipping a beat in pursuit of our passions, when our hearts stop breaking for the things that break the heart of God.”

However, in genesis moments the Holy Spirit implants a dream in your spirit. This implanting, in turn, creates a ripple effect in the rest of your life.  Your plot line changes forever.

In addition, your favorite scripture plays a key role in your plot line.  Pastor Batterson shares his theory:

“Over time your favorite scripture becomes the script of your life.  The promises of God become the plot line of your life.  And the more you rehearse those lines, the more you get into character- the character of Christ.  Your life becomes a unique interpretation of that life verse.”

Although the motto of the Hunger Games is “May the odds be ever in your favor,” the kingdom of God turns that motto on its ear.  In God’s kingdom that motto becomes, “May the odds be ever against you.”

God’s greatest miracles occur against impossible odds.  “At some point,” Mark encourages, “you need to raise your spear of faith.  That’s how the door opens and lets the future in.”

Today’s question: What genesis moments- when the door opens- can you identify in your life?   Please share.
