The currency of God’s kingdom

By Dave Henning / January 25, 2024

“The currency of God’s kingdom is faith.  That’s how you get things in His economy, whether it’s salvation, answers to prayer, a renewed mind, a changed heart, or anything else.  The key to activating His promises is to believe. . . .  Faith is always rooted in the promises of God, and God’s promises are in God’s Word.”- Chip Ingram

“His divine mercy has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.  Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises . . .”- 2 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)

Chip Ingram concludes Chapter 8 of Discover Your True Self as he observes that God’s power often breaks through in surprising ways.  Certainly, God’s power breaks through when we ask and believe.  But it also frequently breaks through in the context of our weakness.

In addition, Pastor Ingram asserts his belief that something supernatural happens when we’re honest about our weaknesses.  God breaks in.  As a result, when we confess our need for the Lord and trust Him to use that to give hope to other people’s lives, God releases His power.

Therefore, release your shame in a safe place at the right time.  Above all, with people you trust to handle your pain with care.  And if you do that wisely, expect to experience real change in your life.

Hence, Chip counsels:

“If your truly long to change, it’ll mean consistently engaging with God’s Word and getting involved in authentic, nonjudgmental relationships with other believers at the heart-to-heart level.  These are two prerequisites for transformation.  Unfortunately, neither is common among most Christians. . . .  In everything, faith is the key.  It can move mountains, please God, and be the catalyst for miracles.”

Today’s question: What most helps you build and strengthen your faith, the currency of God’s kingdom?  Please share.
