Your spiritual vision – eyes of faith

By Dave Henning / February 13, 2021

“Having vision  . . . enables you to function more fully.  It allows you to visualize things and bring them into focus so you can experience them.  Your spiritual vision involves looking further than you can physically see.”- Dr. Tony Evans (emphasis author’s)

“By faith Abraham, when called to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. . . .  For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”- Hebrews 11:8,10 (NIV)

In Chapter 7 (“Vision”) of Discover Your Destiny, Dr. Tony Evans asks us to keep in mind that visions bring clarity.  Because you receive power when you acquire a clear mental picture of your destiny.  As a result, you start making good decisions.  And, those decisions either directly relate to your vision or steer you closer to it.  Dr. Evans adds:

“A clear vision gives you power to make productive and strategic decisions.  It also gives you the endurance to carry out what is necessary in order to one day reach your vision.  Without a vision, seemingly mundane activities really are mundane. . . .  But when God illuminates you , showing how He is planning to use those activities to bring you to your vision, you can carry out tasks with a renewed zeal because you understand their purpose.”

Above all, Dr. Evans exhorts, keep in mind that your destiny and blessing always involves others.  However, Tony underscores, God works in you only when He knows He can work through you.

Finally, Dr. Evans notes, God responds to your movements by revealing more and more of your vision for you.  Consequently, what God reveals empowers you to continue on in faith.

Therefore, Tony encourages, your best response involves acting on God’s revelations of your vision.  For as you step out in faith and respond to the little He’s shown you, He’ll show you much more.
