Dr. Charles Stanley concludes his Introduction to Can You Still Trust God? with his second and third essential beliefs for maintaining faith in God.
Belief #2: God is infinite in wisdom. Because God possesses unlimited knowledge, He always knows what is in our best interest. And He acts accordingly. Therefore, regardless of how our circumstances appear, God knows the optimal course of action in every situation to benefit His children.
Certainly, we have no right to fully know God’s reasons. Yet, our very lack of such knowledge creates our feelings of frustration, anxiety, and doubt. We must believe our infinite, all-wise God knows the best action to take on our behalf.
Belief #3: God is absolutely sovereign. Not even one tiny event in the universe happens outside God’s power and control. God’s in absolute control, whether the circumstance is large or small. Thus, if events could take place outside of His control, we’d never be able to trust God.
As a result, lack of understanding should not lead us to doubt God or abandon our trust. Instead, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we need to surrender our lives to Him. And in the process, accept by faith that He’s good and worthy of our trust.
In conclusion, Dr. Stanley exhorts:
“It is critical that you pick up, embrace fully, and become firmly committed to the truth about God and His relationship with you. Because when you do, it will birth a deeper trust in Him that will enable Him to lead you to His blessings.”
