“God’s calling is so big, so amazing, and so magnificently awesome that just leaning into it and experiencing it will radically change the course of our lives.”- Chip Ingram
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”- Ephesians 3:16-17 (NIV)
Chip Ingram concludes Chapter 12 of Discover Your True Self with the fifth specific way God called us.
5. God calls us to make our hears Christ’s home (Ephesians 3:14-21). Paul’s second major prayer of this epistle focuses on God’s power at work deep in our soul. Consequently, Pastor Ingram stresses, our heart environment must provide a suitable place for Jesus. With the power of the Holy Spirit, Christ dwells in our hearts by faith. Above all, Chip exhorts, with Christ at home in our hearts, we can be at home with Him.
Furthermore, Pastor Ingram explains:
“Paul prays that we would be rooted and established in love and that we would have power together with all God’s people to enter the full experience of these truths. Everything he’s described so far is impossible without the power and love of God. It isn’t difficult; it’s impossible. We need each other for this journey. . . . Every believer receives the ministry of God through the gifts and service of other believers around them. . . . You’ll find God working through you this way often if you make yourself available to Him.”
In conclusion, Chip underscores, life-changing events occur when you heed the Holy Spirit’s prompting and speak in a moment of openness. Because when the Holy Spirit resides in your heart, things come out of your heart that build people up.
So, Pastor ingram asks, do you really want God’s presence in your life? However, it’s one thing to read God’s truth in the Bible, agree with those truths, and even find inspiration through them. But it’s quite another thing to reflect on the magnitude of your calling. And what it would be like to experience it.
