The sentences of life

“The sentences of life give you a fill-in-the-blank every now and then.”- Tom Eggebrecht

In Chapter 2 (“God, the Creative”) of Fully and Completely Alive, Pastor Tom Eggebrecht reminds us that God built creativity right into us.  As human beings, we’re the most intelligent, thoughtful, and emotional of God’s creation.

Clothed with the colors of creation, God designed and created us to be superior to the rest of His creation.  Therefore, Tom encourages us:

“With that kind of creativity going into your design, you are created to be creative.  You are instilled with creativity. . . . more creative than you ever knew or thought you could be.  Yes, you.”

As a result, you need not doubt God built creativity right into you.  You simply need someone to affirm that fact.  However, what happens when the sentences of life give you a fill-in-the -blank?  Following your ministry downsizing or vocation loss, how do you fill that void?  Pastor Eggebrecht offers his insights:

“There are times when your life stories have no passion or zing.  Maybe you are there right now.  But the sentences of life give you a ‘fill-in-the -blank’ every now and then.  Those are moments when you have the opportunity to discover creativity the Creator has place within you. . . . Dig deep down and determine what makes your heart sing.”

In conclusion, Tom emphasizes, you possess the ability to learn and practice the creativity implanted in you by God.  Perhaps you’ve experienced others affirming your gift.  Hence, trust that the God who created you desires to and provides you with the talents to create through you.

Today’s question: What makes your heart sing?  Please share.
