“Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” -Isaiah 40: 31
In Chapter 6 (“Wait While God Works”) of You’ll Get Through This, Pastor Max Lucado states that we have one job in God’s waiting room: to wait. Max adds that waiting doesn’t come naturally- we don’t like to do it. Life seems to be in slo-mo. We dwell in the land between prayer offered and prayer answered. Yet, as Max encourages, this is what we need to know- while we wait, God works.
Psalm 46: 10 reminds us- “Be still and know that I am God.” Because God is good, we can be glad. We can be still, knowing that God is actively involved on our behalf. Since God is busy, we can rest. Pastor Lucado comments on waiting from a Biblical perspective:
“To wait, biblically, is not to assume the worst, worry, fret, make demands, or take control. Nor is waiting inactivity. Waiting is a sustained effort to stay focused on God through prayer and belief. To wait is to ‘rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; . . . not fret (Psalm 37: 7).’ ”
We are not alone in our wait. Jesus is keeping us company!
