“For this light momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient. but the things that are unseen are eternal.”- 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (ESV)
Susie Larson continues Chapter 2 of Closer Than Your Next Breath as she observes that how we steward all Jesus won for us ripples out around us. Most significantly, it echoes to eternity. Therefore, Susie stresses, when God graces you with a tangible expression of His presence, you develop a hunger for the things of God. In addition, you begin to run with purpose in every step.
Above all, Susie counsels:
“He is the same God whether we can sense Him or not! He’s still moving on our behalf, using every aspect of our lives as an invitation to know Him more and experience Him in a way that transforms us. If we believe that His Word is true and that we can never get away from His presence, then we know He’s worthy of our worship, praise, and gratitude no matter what our senses and momentary experiences tell us.”
Furthermore, Susie notes, you actively look for reasons to be grateful. In addition, you find yourself quick to notice all the new life that springs up around you. Above all, you refuse to let the storm shake you. Instead, you shake the storm. Because you’re anchored to Christ.
In conclusion, the more you cultivate a lifestyle of listening and response, the more you sharpen your spiritual senses. Sharpen them to God’s movement around you.
