Wholly In-vest-ed

By Dave Henning / November 3, 2013

On October 31st, the eve of All Saints Day, Vicki and I lost a valued friend.  For the past 12 years, Anthony Sweeney also doubled as our primary care physician.  Walking into Dr. Sweeney’s waiting room felt more like entering his living room, as his wife Donna warmly welcomed us.  We’d take a few minutes to catch up on the latest news about our lives.  Soon Dr. Sweeney, wearing his trademark vest, would come out to escort us to his “den”- aka the examination room.  After a few moments of relaxed conversation, Dr. Sweeney would take our blood pressure and, if necessary, draw blood for any needed tests.

As part of Dr. Sweeney’s extended patient family, we were people first and patients second.  Dr. Sweeney and Donna were wholly invested in us throughout our visit, shining examples of the love of Christ.  When it’s all been said and done, Dr. Sweeney’s quiet manner and gentle spirit always will have a special place in our hearts.
